EP Analytics is currently seeking a senior HPC Production Analyst to support our federal project with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in College Park, MD.
This position will require someone with a passion for and an in-depth knowledge of building and executing large High Performance Computing (HPC) applications (mostly weather/ocean modeling codes) on state-of-the-art parallel systems.
Responsibilities:
Job duties include (but not limited to):
Develop and maintain computer system, environment, and scripts that perform data assimilation and run models for numerical weather/ocean/climate prediction.
Support software testing and implementation including debugging, integration testing, and test reporting and documentation for NCEP forecast models and associated scripts and codes in a real time, operational environment.
Provide advice and guidance to meteorologists, oceanographers, climatologists, mathematicians, and computer programmers on matters pertaining to efficient use of high-performance computing platforms.
Provide clear software documentation and operating instructions (hard copy and on-line where appropriate) for all developed software.
Provide trouble-shooting for any developed software running in the operational suite.
Modify software for testing on computer platforms that represent possible changes to operational computer architecture i.e. for next generation computer acquisition.
Provide off-hour support for production codes running in NCEP’s high-performance computing systems. on-call support will occur every 5-7 weeks.
Interact with customers to field questions on operational configuration, system performance and NCEP forecast model support.
Use data center tools (Vcenter, check_mk) to diagnose system performance issues and recommend changes to improve stability or come to root cause of issues.
Maintain large and complex program/system; analyze program logic and logistics; improve efficiency; prepare program documentation.
U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Residency is required for the position. Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation.
