For short-term simulations of weakly forced convection, should spin-up time be considered when setting up a WRF model? I am a little confused as I see recommendations for spin-up time of between 6 - 12 hrs and no spin-up time but focus on initial conditions.
We typically recommend spin-up time to be 9-12 hours prior to the time you're primarily interested in. This is regardless of the length of your simulation.
