I used the hex_projection tool and created a 1-km mesh for a Texas domain and then used this 1-km mesh to generate the static file by running init_atmosphere_model. But somehow the static file contains many NaN missing values for the ter variable. I tested with init_atmosphere_model compiled by both GNU compliler and Intel compiler and also setting config_supersample_factor to 1, 3 and 5 but none of them fixed the NaN issue.
I ran the same process (hex_projection -> init_atmosphere_model) for a 1-km Colorado domain and noticed NaN missing values in the static file as well.
I attached here four files, namelist.projections, namelist.init_atmosphere, streams.init_atmosphere, and static_real.pbs, for the 1-km Texas domain. I am wondering if anyone could suggest a fix for this issue.
