Dear WRF and MPAS-Atmosphere communities:

We invite your participation in the 2nd Latin America and Caribbean Advances on Weather Forecasting Workshop, to be held as part of the Latin America High Performance Computing Conference (CARLA2026).

Themes of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Transitioning Models: Practical experiences migrating from WRF to next-generation frameworks or European alternatives (ECMWF/IFS).
  • Regional Autonomy & MONAN: Use cases involving the Model for Ocean-laNd-Atmosphere predictioN and other South-South collaborative efforts.
  • AI/ML for Weather Sovereignty: Implementation of low-cost, high-performance AI models (e.g., GraphCast, FourCastNet) that reduce reliance on external massive HPC centers.
  • Institutional Cooperation: Success stories of cross-border partnerships between LAC organizations (e.g., INPE, SMN, SCALAC) and international entities.
  • Infrastructure & Data: Leveraging regional HPC clusters or cloud-native architectures for hyper-local climate hazard forecasting.
The CARLA2026 conference will take place 21 - 25 September 2026 in Córdoba, Argentina. Submissions for full papers and technical / user experience talks are due 19 July 2026.

We hope to see you there!
