User-defined landuse data for WRF

Hi all.

I am undertaking an experiment which would ingest ESA land cover, vegetation fraction and LAI. I noticed the land cover data used in WRF is MODIS. I have read through various posts on using other land use options and most reclassify their LC to the MODIS classifications. My questions are:

1. Is it compulsory to always reclassify the user-defined LC, here ESA LC to the MODIS classifications before running the model?
2. Do I need to regrid the LC, vegetation fraction and LAI inputs to the same gridsize resolution before ingesting into the model?

Waiting for kind responses.
Thanks in advance.
