What's the "UST" ?

I am currently doing a calculation using WRF and have a question about a variable called UST that is included in the standard output.

In the description I found a statement that it is U* in the similarity theory.
How does this differ from the friction velocity in a normal CFD calculation (e.g. channel flow)? Or is it almost the same?

UST is friction velocity, so it is the same as the friction velocity from CFD.
