WRF 4.7.1 compilation error -- noahmp

as of Yesterday my WRF 4.7.1 compiled well and ran WRF without any issues. but, today when i made small changes to YSU pbl and recompiled it, i ended up with the same error, given below. I wonder why this error showed up now but not in my yesterday's compilation. Your help is appreciated. thanks, Kiran

That error occurs when you download and build the wrong source file. Did you install 4.7.1 with github cloning or did you download the .tar file?
 
thank you for the help. yes, i have installed 4.7.1 using the github with this command: git clone GitHub - wrf-model/WRF: The official repository for the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model

like i stated earlier, WRF worked fine and i ran 8 cases with at least 2 compilations and building wrf.exe -- all worked fine until 2 days back when i started to recompile it... and ended up with unexpected error.

was that git clone command needs any flags or something wrong in what i did to install 4.7.1? thanks for your help, kiran
 
to save time, i have reinstalled the WRF 471 and compiled it without any issues. discarded old installation and started using the new installed code
if you have time, please let me know source for that error. if it is time consuming, it may not be worthy to investigate since reinstallation took me under couple to few minutes and get going... thanks, k
