WRF boundary conditions

WRF boundary conditions are provided at discrete times, for example 00z, 06z, 12z ...

Then at an integration time 06:15z, what is the boundary conditions? Use the BC at 06:00z as for 06:15z or interpolate the BCs at 06:00z and 12:00z to 06:15z?

Hi,
Apologies for the delay. If you were to have a model time_step at 06:15, then the boundary conditions would be updated by the conditions of the rest of the domain at that time.

If the wrfbdy_d01 has times at 06:00z, 12:00z, and 18:00z, and wrfinput_d01 is at 08:30z, could WRF run successfully? I mean could WRF internally interpolate the boundary conditions from 06:00z and 12:00z to 08:30z, and start the run?

No, the model unfortunately requires that the simulation starts at the single time specified in the initial condition file (wrfinput) and the wrfbdy file must have boundary conditions available at the start time of the wrfinput file.
