This is a researcher currently working with WRF (version4.1) output files, but I don't know GRDFLX variable, the plus sign represents the transfer of heat from the soil to the surface or the minus sign means that the soil is transferring heat to the surface?

Hi Xue,
A negative value is given for GRDFLX if it is downward, from the surface.
