Add a new variable in wrfout

Hi all!
I am trying to add a new variable in wrfout.The variable is generated by module_sf_noahmplsm.F.What should I do to add the vatiable to wrfout?
I have modify the Registry.EM_COMMON( "state real DEP ij misc 1 - rhd=(interp_mask_field:lu_index,iswater) DEP" "water depth" "m"") for the variable.But the variable in the wrfout both are 0.There have any method to sovle this problem?
