Can WRF (compile in vortex following) do the static nesting like basic option?

Dear WRF&MPAS experts,
I have compiled WRF using the veortex following option successfully. Just wondering if it can do the static normal nesting like compiling in basic option, or need to compile again and choose the basic option? Will the results of the two simulations be different?

I first would like to apologize for the delay in response. We have been busy preparing for the WRF tutorial that's taking place this week, and have gotten behind on forum responses. Thank you for your patience.

If you compile with the vortex-following option, it will not be able to do basic nesting. Unfortunately you will have to compile again for that purpose. I would advise compiling it in a separate directory, so you don't have to clean your vortex-following compile. That way you will have both for when you need them.
