Constant temporal soil moisture

I have run WRF for 10 days with sf_surface_physics=2 (NOAH). I got the outputs. and now I am checking the soil moisture which is coming out to be constant for all 10 days. Where did I go wrong?

Can you upload your namelist.input for me to take a look?
Also, what variables did you check? Did you look at variables at a single point or domain-averaged ?
Which version of WRF did you run?

I have uploaded the namelist.input file. I was checking "SMOIS" variable in wrfout files. I started to check thses variables from 15 to 25 Jan 2024. There is change in the soil moisture spatially but temporally it is coming constant. In other words, soil moisture on 15th is same as soil moisture on 25th.

Thank you for uploading the file. Your namelist.input looks fine to me.

Since your case is a 4-domain nested run, which domain did you check? Is it true that smois remains invariant in all domains? Also, did you look at smois at a single point or it is domain-averaged? Which level of data did you look?

Thanks for the update. This week is MPAS-WRF workshop, and I will take a look next week. Thanks for your patience.

Hi,

I run a few test cases for both winter and summer and all these tests give me time-variant SMOIS. I see no reason why your simulation yielded constant SMOIS. Your namelist.input also looks fine to me.

Can you rerun your case over a single domain for 48-hr, and save wrfout every 6 hours? Then please upload your wrfout files for me to take a look. It is better to run with WRFV4.7, which is the newest version of WRF.

Thanks.
