Dear WRF Support Team,
I have a general question regarding modifying namelist.input after successfully running real.exe. Suppose I have already run real.exe and successfully generated:
wrfinput_d01
wrfinput_d02
wrfinput_d03
wrfinput_d04
wrfbdy_d01
If I subsequently change some options in the &physics or &dynamics sections of namelist.input, do I always need to rerun real.exe and regenerate the wrfinput and wrfbdy files? Or, for parameters that are only used during the WRF integration, can I keep the existing wrfinput_d0* and wrfbdy_d01 files and directly rerun wrf.exe with the modified namelist?
For example, I am particularly interested in changes to parameters such as:
&physics
swint_opt = 2,
couple_farms = .true.,
/
&dynamics
epssm = 0.6, 0.6, 0.6, 0.6,
w_damping = 1,
/
Would changing parameters like these require rerunning real.exe, or are they read and applied only by wrf.exe?
More generally, is there a guideline for determining which changes in &physics and &dynamics require rerunning real.exe and which ones only require rerunning wrf.exe?
Thank you very much for your clarification.
