Originally, I plan to run one-month WRF simulation using 2 vortex following nested domains. It occurred to me what if I use only one domain but the model is compiled using vortex following, will the grep atcf rsl.out.0000 still provide output?
 
Hi,
In order to do vortex following, you must have at least one nest. The model needs an outer (parent) stationary domain that the vortex-following nest to move around inside. The parent nest cannot be dynamic because you will use initial and boundary conditions from an external model, and those values are specific to each grid location.
