grid number issue

Dear Office,

I set the e_we and e_sn as 33 25 20 and 17 respectively for the resolution of 1500m 2000m 2500m and 3000m accordingly.

But the simulation results show the grid numbers are 31 23 18 and 15.

I only ran one domain in this case. Version: WRF 3.8.1

Could you please kindly let me know the reason?

What makes you think that the wrfout grid numbers are different to what you specified in namelist.input?

Please type the command:
ncdump -h wrfout > log

Then look at the grid numbers in log file and compare with that in namelist.input.

I counted grid numbers by seeing with naked eyes, and their numbers are less than that in namelist. Could you please kindly explain for this?

I checked with ncdump -h wrfout > log, taking 3000m resolution as an example:
west_east=16
south_north=16
west_east_stag=17
south_north_stag=17
The setting in namelist is 17. What are the differences between west_east and west_east_stag?

WRF implements Arakawa-C stagger grid. Please take a look at the document here:
