How do I set up streams.atmosphere to only write out one mpasout file while still write out the history and diag files for the forecast length (>1)?

I am trying to set up the streams.atmosphere to only write out one or two mpasout file, for example, for only 1-hour forecast if possible, but still write out the hourly history and diag files for the forecast length. Is there any instructions or example streams.atmosphere that I can refer to? Thanks for the help!

Can you set an extremely large output_interval (larger than the integration time) for history and diag files? In this case, I suppose the model will not output history and diag files.
Please let me know whether it works for you.

Thank you Ming for your reply! Sorry I should make it more clear about what I wanted - if I run a 6-hr mpas forecast, how do I control the streams.atmosphere to only output mpasout at 1-hour forecast for DA cycling, not generating mpasout every hour, since I only need the 1-hr mpasout file.

Hi,
Thank you for the clarification. The output files of MPAS are solely controlled by "output_interval" in streams.atmosphere. I don't think we have the option to output data only at a specific time.

Is there any plan to add that to mpas, just as what was done in WRF?

Due to limited resources we have, this is not our top priority at present. However, we encourage our users to add utilities/capabilities and share them with the community.
