How to fix short wave radiation in wrf model?(have tried methods in other posts but failed)

Hi,
I'm runnning ideal wrf-les and want to aviod dinrual variation of solar radiation, so I've set SOLCON=800 and coszen=1 in module_radiation_driver.F, and recompiled. But I found swdown is like this in my results(It raises with time:[ 0. 47.26198 77.501724 81.01033 85.63076 88.82928 94.04242 99.099655 105.66551 114.994774 127.070076 141.07881 153.58109 ]). Why does this happen? I'm really confused.
Thank you very much!

In the officially released WRF-LES, radiation scheme is turned off. This implies that there is no diurnal variation of solar radiation. It is not necessary to modify module_radiation_driver.F to turn off diurnal variation.

Thank you for your reply! But I have turned on the radiation scheme based on my target. I'm still very confused.

How did you change module_radiation_driver.F?
I just fix the SOLCON=700 and coszen=1 in subroutine radconst and calc_coszen.I'm not sure if it's correct?
Besides, if I'd like to turn off radiation scheme but still need solar radiation to force the land surface process(I have coupled). Can I just fix swdown to force the process and How?
Thank you very much!

i have the same question bro....

Have you considered the parameter "hrang"?
No, because I think if I have fixed the zenith angle (coszen), hrang does not play a role in calculation. In my results, the output of solcon and coszen is what I prescribed, and it seems like I have successfully set them. But sw is gradually increasing, which is really confusing.

This is really confusing then. I will try the same method to fix the coszen and SOLCON by editing my module_radiation_driver.F and run, not sure if i will encounter the same problem like yours.
Howerver, can you sure the SWDOWN is the solar radiation reach the top of the atmosphere? Or maybe it refers to the solar radiation reach the surface?

Try to see the SWDNT? Maybe the solar radiation already fixed

Thank you, I expect your results. And swdown refers to the short radiation down to the surface. Maybe it will change because I only fix solcon but I think it will not increase with time.

yes. i check the file and found it is defined only in case CAM, RRTMG and RRTMK SCHEME
I have tried.SWDNT is the same as SOLCON,so I think the settings are correct. When I set radt=5 instead of 0, the sw is no longer increasing all the time. Maybe you can set like this.

That's really good news. Thank you for the information you provided, I will try it as you suggested.
