How to use real topography in Idealized WRF simulation?

Hello WRF Community,

I am trying to run a WRF idealized simulation with real topography. I want to use the same topography height/features that I have in my successfully completed real WRF simulation case.
I used to run idealized simulations using idealized topography in the past. This time I am trying to use real topography instead of idealized topography. I haven't got any tutorial or resources to do this even in the WRF user guide.

I would be grateful if someone helps me with some resources or ideas to do this? Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

With kind regards
Shak

Shak,
Please take a look at the code dyn_em/module_initialize_ideal.F, in which you can look at the specific ideal case you want to run. Then you will need to modify the codes to read your terrain data. I have never done this before, so I am not sure whether it works or not.Note that ideal cases are designed to run under relatively simple conditions and without any large-scale constraints. Introducing complex terrain may lead to issues in WRF physics and dynamics.
