How WRF surface roughness originally estimated??

Hello!

I carried out TC landfall simulations with different land surface roughness (z0) tables (WRF original vs table modified by hand). I would like to know how the WRF default z0 for each landuse type in VEGPARM.tbl and URBPARM.tbl was estimated originally. Are there any references for that?

I am sorry that we don't have information how the values in VEGPARM.TBl and LANDUSE.TBL are determined. They are probably based on limited in-situ observations.
