if SST=0 in SKINTEMP for met_em, how wrfinput has nonzero values for SST?

Hi All,

If SST=0 in SKINTEMP of met_em files, why does wrfinput have non-zero values for SST after running real.exe?
I am not sure what's the source for SST in wrfinput file. Does anyone have idea about that?

Hi Lily,
Looking in the wrf/dyn_em/module_initialize_real.F file, it looks like the model needs either skintemp or tavgsfc (average 2m temp). It's then converting those sst.
