ij indices at a location in WRF

Hello,

I need to write some information at a specific location (i.e. SGP) into a file while the model is running. The best way is to find the nearest lat/lon but now I just wanna do a quick test to check the output information, so using ij indices would be the best way. I am wondering what is the domain range before the model is compiled, and how to determin the ij at a location?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Suqian,

There is an NCL function, as well as a WRF-Python function that helps you find i,j, based on a specific lat/lon, and vice versa. Take a look at the slide presentations from the links I provided. Look for the slide that includes 'special function' in the title.

I'm a little confused by this question? Can you explain what you mean by the "range of the domain," and what you mean by "before the model is compiled?" Thanks!
