Is there any documentation about validating longer than year downscaling by WRF?

If I want to downscale 30 year reanalysis by WRF before downscaling climate projections by ESMs, how should I validate WRF settings? Should I run 1 year downscaling and validate monthly means ? Can someone tell me metrics useful for validating longer downscaling. I find in literature people use different metrics which ones are important and must be validated?
