Metgrid error "ext_pkg_open_for_write_begin"

hi all members,
I am facing the error when I run metgrid.exe.
My error is " Error in ext_pkg_open_for _write_begin". The metgrid data are NCEP FNL (Final) Operational Global Analysis data are on 1-degree by 1-degree grids data.
How do I sove the error?
Any help is appreciated.

What is the data of "astergdem_5s" in your namelist.wps?

Can metgrid.exe run successfully over a single domain (max_dom =1)?

Dear Ming Chen,
The name "Astergdem_5s" is given by myself. It is actually ASTER GDEM V3 (ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model V003)data. Yes, When I ran with these grib data several times before that simulation , I could run . But this time, I got that kind of error.
Yesterday, my professor told me to run the simulation with the same start date and end date for nested domain. When I set the same start date and end date for nested domain, metgrid exe could be run successfully.
But it is a little strange. Why could i run the simulation before that without setting the same time? May be the simulation time is longer than before.
