Dear.

I am using data GFS which is every 3 hours, then in the namelist.wps, I indicate interval_seconds = 10800 and in the namelist.input I indicate that the outputs are every hour. Is that okay? (Well, we need time outs).

Some of my colleagues have tried with interval_seconds = 3600 even though the input data (GFS) is every 3 hours, according to them, the WRF model will interpolate the missing values, but what they indicate does not seem right to me.

Please tell me what is right and why? And which interpolation method is using the WRF to create the hourly data even when the entry data is every 3 hours.

Sincereley Yours.

Thanks.

If you ungrib GFS data at 3-hour intervals, you can set interval_seconds = 3600. ungird will interpolate data and output hourly intermediate file.
Then in nameless.input, you can set interval_seconds = 3600.
