I'm working with 20CR version 3 reanalysis (not released yet) in grib2 format. g2print utility program is able to read the files and helped creating a new Vtable that can be read by ungrib and I get the "successful completion of ungrib" message. The problem is that the intermediate files are empty. I'm guessing there is a problem with my grib2 files since the log file shows:

Code:

Does anybody encountered similar problems? I'm attaching the files I'm using, my wrf version is the 3.9.1.1 with intel compilers.

Best regards,

Marcelo

Hi,
Are you using the original grib2 input file you downloaded (or obtained), or did you make modifications to that file? I'm not familiar with 20CR data, but it's interesting that your file happens to use most of the same grib code values as GFS. Is this a type of GFS product?

Hi, I did not modify anything.
You are right. The GFS Vtable works for 20CR version 2 and version 2c, but not for 20CR version 3.

Hi,
If we do not have a Vtable that is written for a specific type of data, you may need to contact someone who supports/manages the data to see if you can obtain the grib codes for it. Then you will be able to modify one of the existing vtables for your purpose. If you do find one that works, please share it here so that it can help other users who may be using this type of data.
