As you all know, the wrfout will have a lot of variables, out of which only very few are useful for specific cases.
One can use the iofields_filename option in &time_control to reduce the output to only the required variables. In addition, the z_lev_diags or p_lev_diags is also helpful in obtaining certain common variables at required vertical levels. However, it usually interpolates the actual wrfout fields according to the required levels. I am looking for a way to obtain the wrfout fields only till certain vertical levels, that too for a certain variables specified through the iofields_filename option.
