plotting idealized MPAS output

You can use UXarray to process the raw grids, or convert them using MPAS-Convert to a standard grid, or use MPASSIT to convert to WRF format, if you can get MPASSIT to work. I have been unable to make MPASSIT work on my smaller system. It seems to be set up for running on Derecho. I can run MPAS on global and regional grids, following the last tutorial notes. I just wish I could convert to WRF format and use all my WRF scripts to visualize.

As far as I know, we don't have the utility to interpolate the unstructured MPAS mesh outputs to a 2D grid for idealized cases. Is there any special reason you want to remap the data to 2D grids?


But now I need to visualize the output, and I don't use NCL. I could probably use some convoluted logic to plot some results in matplotlib, but I want to first check whether there are any utilities that can be used to interpolate the unstructured MPAS mesh outputs to a 2D grid for an idealized (not projected onto the sphere) case.
