Question about GCC compiler versions and WRF versions.

Hello.

Is there a list of which GCC compiler versions work for each WRF release, like this:

WRF 3.9
WRF 4.1 - min GCC ver.required - max GCC ver. that compiles and works.

WRF 4.2, and so on until 4.7 ?

We do not have an exhaustive list like this, but if you look at this page, regarding the release testing done for wrfv4.5, you can at least see the compilers we used for those tests. You can then modify the URL for each major release version. Unfortunately we didn't keep doing this after V4.5, so that's the latest information we have.

Thank you for the reply... it gives me an idea the I could go back to GCC 9 or 10 for an old WRF version (to build gompi stack and such with that compiler version).

Don't know if there is a way to have support in those versions to add support for -march=znver3 or znver4 or znver5 architectures (new ones).
