Question regarding generating static and terrestrial field

I am following the tutorial (MPAS Tutorial — Practice Session Guide) for running MPAS-A, and it seems that most of the input files are on the NCAR computer cluster. I would like to know how I can create static and terrestrial fields using other data sources, such as ERA5, GFS, or observational data. If possible, where can I find information about how these files should be formatted, and in what file format (e.g., netCDF, HDF5, etc.)? Additionally, how should I set the namelist.init_atmosphere for this purpose?

If you're just getting started with MPAS-A, it would be easiest to use the default static terrestrial datasets that you can download here: Static Geographic Datasets — MPAS Atmosphere documentation . Creating new datasets can be complicated, and it's probably best to do this only after you have some experience with the default datasets.

Yes, I would say it's atypical to use datasets other than those provided in the download linked above, as doing so would most often require some modifications in the init_atmosphere code.
