Questions about Basic LES Knowledge

1、Is WRF-LES not a separate model?
Does it simply involve differences in the namelist.input parameters and grid settings?
2、Does LES require high-precision meteorological and geographical data?
Can the commonly used 0.25°×0.25° ECMWF data and 30-arc-second static geographical data still be applied to LES simulations?
3、How can I obtain high-resolution datasets?
Are there recommended sources for fine-scale input data?
4、Can the grid resolution be set to less than 1 km?

I would be extremely grateful for any advice or responses from the community!

1、Is WRF-LES not a separate model?

No, WRF-LES refers to WRF model used for LES simulation. The official release of WRF includes WRF-LES, but juts for ideal LES simulation. You are right that options and grid interval need to be changed for LES simulation.
2、Does LES require high-precision meteorological and geographical data?
Can the commonly used 0.25°×0.25° ECMWF data and 30-arc-second static geographical data still be applied to LES simulations?
High-resolution data is requred to provide initial and lateral forcing data for real-time LES simulation. The quarter degree is too coarse for LES.
3、How can I obtain high-resolution datasets?
Are there recommended sources for fine-scale input data?
No, I don't think there exist high-resolution data appropriate for forcing a real-time LES simulation.
4、Can the grid resolution be set to less than 1 km?
You can set dx < 1km.
