Questions about large grids domain run using ndown.exe WRF4.6

Hi Everyone,
I want to use WRF4.6 to run a high resolution model (9km/3km/1km) with grid points 1450x1200, 3502x2860, 4666x3301. I can generate D01 and D02 successfully. But I can't use real.exe to generate D03 since the grid number of D03 is too large. I wonder may I use ndown.exe for the D3 (1 km) initial and boundary condition files? Is there also a grid number limitation for ndown.exe? If based on your experience, ndown.exe could help me run 1 km domain, I'll try this way. Or if there is any other suggestions, that would be great!

Any sort of help is appreciated!

Hi Peiwang,
We are aware that WRF has trouble when running with large grid numbers, and ndown has the same issue.
Unfortunately we don't have a solution yet. Therefore it is recommended to reduce grid numbers to avoid this problem.

OK, it seems that reducing the grid numbers is the best way... Thanks Ming!
