Ran out of valid boundary conditions in file wrfbdy_d01 (Wrong time in wrfbdy_d01)

Dear Forum,

I met an ERROR: Ran out of valid boundary conditions in file wrfbdy_d01.

Following the tips in the forum, I have checked the time in wrfbdy_d01 using the command ncdump -v Times wrfbdy_d01.

And I was surprised to find that the end time in wrfbdy_d01 is 2010-02-16_12:00:00. However, in fact, the end time I set in both my namlist.wps and namelist.input is 2010-02-28_18:00 :00, and the end time of the input meteorological field is also 2010-02-28_18:00:00.

I wonder why the end time is wrong in my wrfbdy_d01, and how can I simulate to the time 2010-02-28_18:00 :00!

I guess real.exe didn't finish successfully. Somehow it stopped before all met-em files are processed.
Can you rerun real.exe?
By the way, how many files did you try to process when running real.exe? Note the maximum number is 60000.

Dear Ming,

Thank you very much for your reply! First of all, as a newbie, I would like to ask you to confirm that the file you referred to is the processed meteorological field files (met_em.d0*) ?

The total time period I set for simulation was 2009-10-01_00:00 :00 to 2010-02-28_18:00 :00, without nested domains. And the input meteorological field was the FNL 6 hourly files, totaling 151 days, thus there were 604 met_em.d0* files. This should not be over the limit, right?

I have tried to rerun real.exe, but the result was still the same. I also tried adjusting the time to 2009-11-01_00:00 :00 to 2010-02-28_18:00 :00, and at this point, I could get a complete wrfbdy_d01 file!

I hope my answer above will help you understand my current situation and be able to help me out. I still hope to simulate 2009-10-01_00:00 :00 to 2010-02-28_18:00 :00.

To answer your question of the files, you are right that you should have met_em files covering the entire integration period.

(1) Would you please let me know which version of WRF you are running?
(2) Have you saved your rsl files when running real.exe? Since not all the met_em files are processed, I suppose the real.exe run failed. Is there any error message in your rsl files?
(3) Please upload your namelist.wps for me to take a look.

Dear Ming,

(1) The WRF is version 3.9.1
(2) the rsl file and namelist.wps are all attached

Thank you for a lot!
