Hi,

I wonder if there is a temperature of the snow pack in Noah LSM? The only temperature I can find is the skin temperature of the snow which, for example, is used to calculate the temperature gradient between the snow surface and the first soil layer at 5 cm depth.

Am I right, or is there a temperature also for the interior of the snow pack?

Best,

Martin Hagman

Martin,

Noah LSM doesn't predict temperature interior of the snow pack. The snow physics process is simple in Noah. It simply considers deposition/sublimation to and from the snow pack, and snow melt.
