Spurious wind patterns near open boundaries in WRF simulations

Hi,
I am running an ideal WRF simulation (em_convrad). The domain is modified (Please see first screenshot, blue is land and red is ocean) to allow the development of sea breeze where two thirds are land and one third is ocean. For lateral boundary conditions, I am using open boundaries in x-direction (although I am not sure if I could do this) and periodic boundaries in y-direction. During the simulation spurious wind patterns develop near the boundaries (Please see second screenshot, circled regions). Could you please explain it to me and let me know if any solution exists?
Thanks

The purpose of ideal convrad is to demonstrate an idealized convective-radiative equilibrium 3d run driven by SST. By specifying 1/3 of the domain to be land, which allows sea-breeze to develop, the "equilibrium" is interfered and hard to reach. Meanwhile, I see no reason why the open boundaries in x-direction should be used. Can you try with periodic_x and periodic_y ?

Thank you for your response, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

You're absolutely right in pointing out that the inclusion of land interferes with the idealized equilibrium state of the convective-radiative system. However, the use of open boundaries in the x-direction is intentional. If periodic_x were used instead, it would result in sea-breeze circulations developing from both sides over the land region. This contradicts the intended setup, where I only want the sea-breeze to develop from right to left.

I don't have an immediate answer to this issue.

Are you able to find references in the literature?
