SST Update procedure for downscaling of CFSv2 Hindcast

I would like to clarify the issue regarding SST updates. I am currently using CFSv2 hindcast data ( TDS Catalog ). However, in the surface fields, only Temperature_surface is provided, and there is no explicit SST field. After processing the data into met* files, I noticed the variable:

SKINTEMP: description = "Skin temperature (can use for SST also)"

In this context, I have the following questions:

1. Is it appropriate to use SST update with this dataset?
2. If yes, how should I configure the following parameters in namelist.input?

sst_update = 1,
sst_skin = ?

Hi, and apologies for the delay. If your case is shorter than about 5 days, SST update is not necessary. But if you do want to use SST update, you should obtain another source of SST input that has a higher temporal resolution. See the WRF Users' Guide section that describes the process.
