SST Update procedure for downscaling of CFSv2 Hindcast

I would like to clarify the issue regarding SST updates. I am currently using CFSv2 hindcast data ( TDS Catalog ). However, in the surface fields, only Temperature_surface is provided, and there is no explicit SST field. After processing the data into met* files, I noticed the variable:

SKINTEMP: description = "Skin temperature (can use for SST also)"

In this context, I have the following questions:
  1. Is it appropriate to use SST update with this dataset?
  2. If yes, how should I configure the following parameters in namelist.input?
sst_update = 1,
sst_skin = ?
