While trying to run metgrid in WPS4.3.1 with GFS DATA for 2022-03-09, I get the following error:

Tried many of the solutions given in other posts but none of them worked.

Do you have the file "FILE:2022-03-09_00" in your working directory? It seems not. Please double check.
 
Yes, I have it in a separate directory because my harddrive was full.
Or does it have to be on the WPS directory?
 
I've also had this issue last week. The process works perfectly with the previous version using the same dataset.

There did seem to be issues with the ungrib.exe which didn't rename the files based on the prefix (although the file path entered in the prefix worked) but the file was created and looked correct. If I hadn't tried to change the prefix to something other than FILE I wouldn't have spotted it.

Then when I ran metgrid.exe the TT was not found issue came up. So I wonder if it's related to the ungrib issue (although this may be a red herring).
 
yes the files need to be located at the directory where you run metgrid. if you don't have enough space, you may link these files to WPS and they won't take any space. Please use the command below:
in your WPS directory, ln -sf /your file location/FILE:* .
