Hi,

Is there a way to have the top boundary condition as open? Just like openx and openy conditions for idealized simulations.

I am running some 2D idealized LES cases involving thermals and would like to have an open boundary condition at the top. With the existing top BC it is affecting the flow near the top even with damp_opt set to 0. This is a concern when running Neutral stratification cases and with no Boundary layer.

If needed, where can we change the top BC tendencies? Any suggestions would help a lot.

Thank you
Sudheer

Sudheer,
There is no way to allow a mass flux across the top, if that is what you want.
It may be best to add a large damping layer above the levels of interest.
