Using precompiled WRF on Cheyenne

Hi,

I am a new WRF user and I am attempting to run WRF on Cheyenne using the precompiled version of WRF4.1.4. I made symbolic links in my Cheyenne directory (glade/scratch/doughert/WRF_sim) to where this is located on Cheyenne (~wrfhelp/PRE_COMPILED_CODE) for both WRF4.1. and WPS4.1. The issue I run into is that when I try to edit namelist.wps, it is read only––is there something else I need to do in order to be able to edit namelist.wps and run WRF?
