Vortex Tracking Method

Hello,

I am using the ATCF output from the rsl.out files to identify the vortex center and track of my tropical cyclone simulations. I wanted to better understand how the vortex center was defined, but I am struggling to find documentation about the ATCF output. Are there any resources that discuss how the ATCF track information is defined or is it just the minimum central pressure?

Hi Madison,
I assume you're using the vortex-following configuration? If so, that model specifically follows the area of lowest pressure.
