WPS error The mandatory field TT was not found in any input data GFS

Hello everyone,


I’m new to WRF as well as to modeling and programming. I’m currently using WRF version 4.5.2 and trying to run the model using historical GFS data downloaded from the following sources:

• https://noaa-gfs-bdp-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html

gfs.0p25.2018110100.f000.grib2 — 226 MB

• https://osdf-data.gdex.ucar.edu/ncar/gdex/d084001/
  gfs.0p25.2018110100.f000.grib2 — 226 MB

However, when running WPS I get the following error:


“The mandatory field TT was not found in any input data”.


I am downloading all the files available from these locations. I also noticed that these historical files are only about 215–226 MB, while the recent GFS data from:

• Index of /pub/data/nccf/com/gfs/prod

run through WPS without any issues, and those files are around 540 MB.


Could someone please help me identify where I can download the complete historical GFS datasets (including all required fields for WPS), or suggest how I might resolve this error?

Please download GFS data from NCAR RDA: NSF NCAR GDEX Dataset d084001

Then try again.

NCAR RDA GFS are well organized and include all variables required for running WPS/WRF.
