In http://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/docs/user_guide_V3/users_guide_chap3.htm#_Required_Meteorological_Fields, the table of Required Meteorological Fields for Running WRF has an intermediate file field name of "GHT", but in NetCDF datasets and other WRF documents, I see Height as "HGT", are these different values? We are going to build WRF intermediate files from NetCDF data, and need to be sure of the correct character string for the 3-d geopotential height.

Hi,
When you run WPS, you should see the variable "GHT" in the met_em* files. This is geopotential height. When running WRF, the output will have a variable "HGT" in the output, that corresponds to terrain height. You can find these, and any other variables you question in the Registry/Registry.EM_COMMON file.
