Wrfout files in GRIB format

I talked to a NOAA staff member last December. She told me that UPP can still process wrfout files, although this capability is no longer officially supported by NOAA.

However, I didn't test this UPP capability myself. Please try and post your findings in the forum. I guess many users may need this capability. Thanks.

Is help available any more on this forum? L never get any reply to any post i make. I am trying to get wrf output in grib2. NCEPLIBS and UPP are so difficult to install. I reinstall wrf with "CFLAGS_LOCAL = -w -O2 -c" instead of "CFLAGS_LOCAL = -w -O3 -c", then I set "io_form_history = 10". The model runs but does not write any output, giving the error "open_hist_w : error opening wrfout_d01_2025-05-29_00:00:00". where and how do I specify the output file name? Any help out there?

full error "open_hist_w : error opening wrfout_d01_2025-05-29_00:00:00 for writing. 100".
