I'm preparing 1–2 years of data for MOS WRF development and need GFS 0.25 historical GRIB2 files.
Is there a known method to achieve server-side spatial subsetting from the AWS GFS archive or any other archive source — equivalent to what NOMADS GRIB filter provides for recent data — without downloading the full ~550 MB GRIB2 file? Or is the accepted workaround simply to download the full file and crop locally when all variables/levels are required for MOS WRF training data?
