Is WPS_GEOG_LOW_RES still usable?

I am wondering if the low resolution static data is still usable. I downloaded data from here https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/src/wps_files/geog_low_res_mandatory.tar.gz. In my namelist, attached, I used geog_data_res='default','default' and running geogrid.exe gives me the error "ERROR: Could not open /home/zmumba/DA2/WPS_GEOG_LOW_RES/albedo_modis/index". I then got data from here https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/src/wps_files/geog_minimum.tar.bz2 and used the contents of the attached txt file (given on the same site) for my namelist.wps. I get the same error.
My question is whether geog_low_res_mandatory is still usable, or is it my geogrid which is not properly installed?
Please help.

I believe these coarse-resolution data are still available for download.

Please see the website Static Data Downloads, click the button "Download Lowest Resolution of Each Mandatory Field", you will be able to obtain the coarse resolution data.

However, by setting geog_data_res='default','default' , WPS will try to extract high-resolution data. This is why you cannot get it done.

To use coarse resolution data, you need to specify what data you want to use. For example, if you set

geog_data_res='10m','10m'

WPS will use the 10m resolution data as input.

Thank you very much Ming. My problem is that I have tried both the low resolution data from https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/src/wps_files/geog_low_res_mandatory.tar.gz and https://www2.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/src/wps_files/geog_minimum.tar.bz2. Whether I put geog_data_res='10m','10m' or geog_data_res='30m','30m' or even geog_data_res = '2deg+gtopo_10m+usgs_10m+10m+nesdis_greenfrac','2deg+gtopo_10m+usgs_10m+10m+nesdis_greenfrac' as suggested in the second link above, I get the same error: ERROR: Could not open /home/zmumba/DA2/WPS_GEOG_low_res/topo_gmted2010_30s/index.
So I am starting to think geogrid.F has been wired to only look for high_res static data, because low_res does not have topo_...

Which GEOG.TBL are you using for WPS?

There is an option in the ARW table that is for lowres.

So try this and see if it runs. geog_data_res='lowres','lowres'
if that doesn't work there is another option, move all the contents from /DA2/WPS_GEOG_low_res to the parent directory /DA2/ and try some of the suggestions that ming said. It might just be a file pathing issue

Because you are right the 30s is not included in the low res geog files
