Milbrandt & Yau Multimoment Scheme Rainfall Gamma Distribution

Hi,

I wanted to ask anyone who has experience using the Milbrandt & Yau Multimoment Scheme. I'm looking at rain. I'm wondering what are realistic values for lambda and N_0 and what order of magnitude should I expect? I have input values of:

N_T=200000kg-1
q=0.001kgkg-1

I'm trying to do a sanity check on some results.

I was also wondering if the conversion of N_T with units of kg-1 to units of m-3 is just by multiplying through by the density of air?

Hi,

My understanding is that, lambda should typically look like the inverse of a diameter in meters. I am not quite sure of its magnitude.

You are right that you can use density to get N_T per m3.
