What year are the USGS and MODIS land cover in WRF v4 based on?

Dear WRF-experts,

I'd like to know what year was the USGS and MODIS data in the latest WRF version based? Is it 2010 for MODIS and 1992-1993 for USGS?

I cant find information on this in the WRF chapter 3 documentation.

I'll appreciate any help.
Hi Lyndz,

USGS GLCC data are for the period 1992-1993. The coarser resolutions are derived from the 30-arc-second data.

The data in the 'modis_landuse_20class_15s' directory is based on

Broxton, P. D., Zeng, X., Sulla-Menashe, D., & Troch, P. A. (2014). A global land cover climatology using MODIS data. Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, 53(6), 1593-1605. DOI: 10.1175/JAMC-D-13-0270.1

The data in the 'modis_landuse_20class_30s' directory were provided by NCEP and include the addition of a tundra class; these data were most likely collected in 2001.

The data in the 'modis_landuse_21class_30s' data were modified by Boston University, most likely based on data collected in 2004.

Hope this is helpful for you.

What about this data? This data is listed in
as "modis_landuse_20class_30s_with_lakes"
I found the data is based on this product (according to the previous question) But I would like to know the exact year adopted by WRF in the link above.
Thank you very much.
I am also curious about the year of the MODIS land data in modis_landuse_20class_30s/5m_with_lake from the WRFV4 (, are they from the same year as the ones in the WRFV3 version?

The modis_landuse_20class_30s/5m_with_lakes is the same dataset between V3 and V4 model releases. If you are interested in the references, the extent of our knowledge of the datasets can be found here.
