Registration

• You must create an account to post, first-time posts need manager approval and it may take 2-3 business days.

Posting Threads

• Before posting, use the search utility to verify whether a solution to your inquiry already exists
• Post inquiries to the relevant forum (i.e., WPS, WRF, WRF-Chem, MPAS)
• Open a new thread for each new question. Do not post inquiries more than once.
• State the problem or error in the subject line and attach relative files - e.g., namelists, error logs
• Under "Options" check the boxes for "Watch this thread..." and "receive email notifications" to stay up to date on replies. Alternatively, click your name at the top of the forum site, and then "preferences" to choose notification options for the entire forum site.
• If the problem is related to compiling WRF or WPS, see the WRF/WPS Compiling web page.
• Add relevant tags to your thread (see list of all tags). Contact us if you need additional tags.

Including Files

• Avoid attaching screen shots of error messages, as the content is not searchable.
• If attaching packaged files, use zipped or .tar format (not .rar format).
• If files are too large to upload, package files as a single .tar file, and upload to our Box storage, and then let us know the file name. Note you will not be able to view the file so will need to provide the filename for us to reference.

Responses

• The NCAR team tries to reply to inquiries in a timely manner, but it can sometimes take a few days due to other obligations.
• The NCAR team does not work nights (Mountain Time), weekends, or holidays.
• The NCAR CM1 team is very small, and it might take several weeks for a response. Thank you for your patience.
• We welcome experienced users to respond to inquiries. This helps expedite the response process.

• This is the official NCAR-supported forum for the WRF, MPAS, and CM1 models. While other similar forums may exist and be perfectly functional, we are not affiliated with any forum outside of this one.
• Prior to June 2022, this forum used a different platform. All content from the older platform can be found in the "Historical/Archive" section further down on this page.
