When I was running the wrf.exe program, it keeps running, but there were only two wrfout files. One was the valid file at the initial time of d01, and the other was an invalid file at the initial time of d02 (with a file size of 0).

The version I used was WRF V4.3.3, in which water vapor tracers were loaded to obtain WRF-WVTs[website]. When running WRF, it was found that setting the number of domains to 1 was successful, while setting it to 2 or 3 failed. This is an rsl.error.0000 file that indicates a failure in the operation.My forcing data is the FNL data with a 6-hour interval.

There is no error message in the rsl file you attached.

I am suspicious that the model you used may not support nesting case. Unfortunately we only support officially released WRF and cannot debug WRF modified by our users. But it is always a good idea that you recompile the model in debug mode, then rerun the case. The log file will tell exactly when and where the model crashes, which can give you some hints what is wrong.

However, several previous studies have used this model to conduct simulations of nested domains. Regarding the case of recompiling the model in debug mode and then running it, I'm not familiar with it. Could you please tell me if you have any relevant materials or technical documents?

Please go to your top WRF directory, then issue the commands:
(1) ./clean -a
(2) ./configure -D, choose the compiler for your system
(3) ./compile em_real

After analysis and verification of the running WRF, it was finally confirmed that the problem was related to the quantity of two parameters in the namelist.input file. This model that has been modified by others is indeed not very convenient to use because the accompanying documentation is not comprehensive.
