ERROR: Error in ext_pkg_write_field when running metgrid

The error you're seeing typically means that you are missing surface data and you should check that all your 3d meteorological fields include surface-level data.
 
Upon inspection, my surface data is complete (see sfc_data.txt) however the pressure level data has these discrepancies with the data szes (see pl_data.txt) 1747356403014.png
When I ran ungrib.exe, I didn't encounter any problem hence I assume that this doesn't affect when I ran metgrid.

Yesterday, I ran metgrid again without creating a logfile and this is the error that I got

the timestamp on the error didn't match up with the surface data with discrepancy with low data volume.

Okay, can you try a few tests?

1) Run WPS for a time frame up until the time at which the data files are much smaller - so run for the first 23 hours - all the way through metgrid - to see if that works. If so, then...
2) Run WPS through the first 2 days, to include the smaller files on 11/24.
3) Many times this issue is the result of a "bad" download, meaning something was corrupted during the download and the files are not complete. Can you try to re-download the files ERA5 files to see if that makes any difference?
